7 Nov 2006: new exceptions
In May 2006, the government announced it would introduce new exceptions to copyright infringement. These include exceptions to allow:
- “time-shifting” of television programs,
- “space-shifting” of music and other material,
- non-commercial uses by educational and cultural institutions and libraries, and
- parody and satire.
The speakers will look at the background to the announcement and the government’s proposed amendments.
